STRIVE was established as a New York City program in
1984. In the years following, they refined their program and began to
expand their services to locations
around the NYC metropolitan area, they saw a greater opportunity to
impact
employment services nationwide.
STRIVE International was formed as an administrative, training,
advocacy, fund-raising, and consulting organization. Headquartered in
New York, they facilitate the creation of local direct-service employment
programs and partner with established agencies — the STRIVE Affiliates — in
offering programs based on the STRIVE model.
The affiliates are primarily non-profit organizations, faith-based
institutions, and municipalities that administer local STRIVE
employment centers. They are aligned by a commitment to assisting
hard-to-employ individuals in securing unsubsidized entry-level jobs
and gaining access to career development assistance. Established
organizations may provide other services and programs in addition to
the STRIVE job-readiness module. Affiliates participate in a dynamic
international network with the means to influence and guide workforce
development on a broad scale.
