The mission of STRIVE-New Haven is to prepare, train, place and support Greater New Haven residents in securing employment, and to demonstrate the impact that attitudinal training and post-placement support have on successful long-term employment. The United Illuminating company has been a long time supporter of STRIVE, and recently recommitted financial support for the 2009-2010 fiscal year. Thanks to everyone at UI for their continued faith in our work.

Webster Bank is the latest donor to support STRIVE's employability program. STRIVE is also working with the community relations department to have a Webster representative facilitate a financial literacy class as a complementary service to our traditional workshops.

STRIVE has been a proud community partner of the United Way of Greater New Haven for the past three years, and once again, through their generosity STRIVE will be able to conduct another collaborative program with the New Haven Board of Education's Head Start Program. The Workforce Alliance has been a supporter of STRIVE's since we opened our doors in 2000. Their support continues into 2010 with their recent contract with STRIVE for ten slots in the STRIVE program for young offenders. STRIVE is excited to continue working with the Workforce Alliance, to help the youth in our community get to work!

The NewAlliance Foundation has once again invested in STRIVE to support the unemployed population in Greater New Haven.Despite the current economic downturn, the Foundation has stepped up for a fourth year with financial support for the organization. STRIVE would like to put out a big thank you to Kim A. Healey, and everyone at the NewAlliance Foundation for their continued faith and support in our organization.

The Walmart Foundation has decided to make STRIVE a community parter through their State Giving Program. Walmart has seen the need for STRIVE's services in the community, and will be making a huge difference in the New Haven community with their $25,000 financial donation for the 2009-2010 fiscal year.

To begin a workshop, you must apply by the Friday before the start date.

Graduations are held off-site at partner organizations and agencies, and are open to the friends/family of the graduates, as well as individuals who may be interested in the program.
